So as a musician, I did the RPM Challenge this year where you create a full 10-song record in 28 days during the month of February. Below is the Soundcloud player with demo previews and the full set of graphics that I made to accompany the project.

Concept Paintings From “The Dreams”

These are two concept paintings from a short animation project I have been working on for what feels like a million years. It is a dark story about how we come to forget our childhood dreams, and the exact moment we become detached from them.

I started writing this script and concepting the images back in 2003. Four years later, I discovered (and fell in love with) the Philip Pullman series His Dark Materials. I noticed a lot of similarities in the fundamental concepts, although the plots are different. Perhaps the wind was taken out of my sails a bit, as my main character turned out to look much like his… but I suppose there is room for us all.

As a side note, I have been working on the musical side of this project in pieces too. On my latest LP, Phoenix I included a song called “The Dreams” which is intended for this project.

Poster Show

This collection is from a poster show I did in Providence, RI. I interviews a wide range of locals to find out what their life philosophy is. The show was inspired by the Works Progress Administration “Posters for the People” movement. I decided that it would be fitting to propagandize from the bottom up… reversing the flow of information.
From each interview, I extracted a single message and created a slogan for that individual.

I really enjoyed the interviews and locally the posters were a hit. It is amazing what wisdom people have to share, if only you ask.

Weird Fishes Animation Sketches

This is a selection of sketches from a Radiohead animation contest hosted by the site Aniboom a few years back. I created a storyline based on the song Weird Fishes from In Rainbows.

The story follows a young man as he walks through the city gazing at the moon. Circles, holes and spheres are a sub-theme. In the moonlight he finds an open manhole and jumps in. He falls all the way through the center of the earth, and comes out at the bottom of the ocean on the other side. There he swims toward the light through a menagerie of fish and sea creatures. When he gets to the top gasping for breath, he sees the moon again… or something like it. As the “camera” dollies back, it is revealed that he is actually inside a fish bowl, and the orb he saw in the sky was the eye of a child.
